YEAR FOR PRIESTS - Pope Benedict XVI has declared a Year for Priests.
It started on 19th June 2009, both the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests.
The year will conclude in Rome with an international gathering of priests with the Holy Father on June 19, 2010.
It also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the death of the patron for priests, the Cure d’Ars, St John Mary Vianney.
The Pope has said that the year-long event is meant ‘to encourage priests in striving for spiritual perfection on which, above all, the effectiveness of their ministry depends. Fore more information including prayers for priests/vocations and other useful website links, click here
